Frequently Asked Questions

What Diameter Are the Grommets?

It depends on the materials used. Metal grommet window curtains have an inner diameter of 1 ⅝”. Plastic grommets have 1 ⅞”

How Do I Measure for Grommet Curtains?

Measure the curtain rod and multiply the total width by 1.5 to 3. For length, measure the top to the endpoint that you want, and add an extra inch or two. Measure from the top of the curtain rod, not the window frame itself.

Also, for length, remember the grommets will let light leak into your room. So you want your curtains to be extra long so you can hang them higher above the window. If you’ve measured previous window treatments, add a few inches for grommets. Remember, we’re a seller that can make custom curtains fit for your needs.

What Size Rod Do I Need for Grommet Curtains?

Your curtain rod should be slightly smaller than the grommet’s inner diameter. For our metal grommets, a rod up to 1 ¼ inches will work. For plastic, use a rod up to 1 ½. The goal is to allow for easy movement of the curtains while keeping them secure.

Can Grommet Curtains Be Used With a Center Support Bracket?

You can do that, but the panels won’t slide past the middle. If you order a pair of window curtains, or your panels plan to be stationary, a center support bracket can work well.

How Do I Prevent Light From Leaking Through the Top?

The best way is to hang the rod higher above the window, and order curtains that will cover the entire window. Also, be sure you’re using room darkening or blackout curtains for the best results.

Many blackout curtains have grommets built into them to help with room darkening and easy hanging.

Are Metal or Plastic Grommets Better?

Both have advantages. Metal grommets can look stylish, adding luxury to your living room or bedroom. Also, metal grommets can be heavier duty. Plastic, meanwhile, is more affordable and gentler on fabric.

Also, both our grommets come in colors. For plastic, we offer bronze, brass, matte nickel, and black. Metal grommets have bronze, brass, matte nickel, and gun metal. This wide variety of colors will make sure you’ll find the right fit for your room.

How to Clean Our Grommet Curtains?

Like all of our window curtains, it’s best that you dry clean them. You can also iron them by slightly dampening the window curtains beforehand.

Can They Be Used for Room Darkening Purposes?

You can purchase curtains from us with blackout lining. This lining can keep your bedroom dark at all hours, and keep your room’s temperature more consistent. That being said, because the grommets can lead to light leakage, they should be hung higher than normal curtains, and measured properly to offer the best room darkening.

Also, our blackout lining comes in different levels. Our 80% blackout curtains will keep your room dark but still let some natural light in. Meanwhile, our 100% blackout curtains ensure your room will be completely dark. Our blackout curtains come in a variety of colors, each providing an array of room darkening styles.

Do You Have Thermal Insulated Grommet Curtains?

Yes. We sell drapes designed to keep your home at a consistent temperature. Thermal insulated curtains also have a 100% room darkening effect and sound dampening features. In other words, outside traffic and noisy neighbors will be less of a problem. Many of our customers prefer the thermal insulated grommet curtains because they are easy to hang.

Do Your Thermal Insulated Grommet Curtains Actually Help With Energy Bills?

Combined with other energy-saving methods, thermal insulated curtains certainly can. They can reduce the sunlight from heating your room on hot days, and keep the hot air inside when it’s cold. Many choose to purchase thermal insulated curtains because they look stylish and are efficient for many rooms.

Do Thermal Insulated Curtains Block 100% of Light?

Yes! However, you should hang thermal insulated higher so that light will be unable to come out of the grommets themselves.

How Much Fullness Is Required for the Grommet Header Style?

You’ll want about 1.5 to 2.5 times the width of the curtain rod to ensure the best fullness. For example, if your rod is 52 inches long, then your curtain should be between 78 to 130 inches, depending on your preference. Measure your space, and then order accordingly.

How Much Daylight Is Blocked by Your Grommet Blackout Window Curtains?

It depends on the lining you choose. We have blackout curtains available in 80% or 100%. The 80% blackout curtains are perfect if you want privacy and no excessive light, but still want some beautiful natural light. Meanwhile, full blackout is excellent for when you want no daylight seeping in. Also, we have thermal and soundproof lining as well, which is total blackout.

That being said, our window curtains with grommets will have spaces where light can come through. Therefore, these curtains should be longer and hung higher above your window.
