Frequently Asked Questions
How Effective Are They for Privacy at Night?
Blackout Roman shades offer privacy from prying eyes. However, they do not have full soundproof lining like some of our curtains do. If you want the most privacy, you may want to go with those.
How Do I Clean Your Blackout Roman Shades?
Our shades are dry cleaning only. If you want them ironed, be sure to use low heat and dampen them slightly. However, you don’t need to do this. Our textured shades should be cleaned with care, so note that when you begin the cleaning process.
How Do I Measure Windows for Blackout Roman Shades?
It’s important to find the best fit to ensure no light seeps out. You can choose an inside mount or an outside one. Inside mounts give a complete, timeless look while outside mounts will darken your room the best. Measure the width and height of your window and give 1.5”-2” of depth to an inside mount or 4”-6” inches of width for an outside shade.
Do You Offer Custom-Sized Blackout Roman Shades?
Yes! If our curtain sizes don’t fit your unique window, you can contact us for custom sizing.
Can Your Shades Be Mounted Inside the Frame or on the Wall?
You can mount either inside the frame or outside. Inside mounting will give your window a more polished style, while outside mounting will take full advantage of the blackout lining and block any light from coming into your room.
What Fabric Are They Made From?
Our Roman Shades are made from 100% flax linen, with a polyester lining to keep the sun out.
Do Your Blackout Roman Shades Provide Thermal Insulation?
Thermal lining is one of the options available. This lining can keep your room warm in the winter and cool during the summer, saving you money on electric bills.
Are Any of Your Roman Shade Fabrics Chemically Treated? If So, With What?
No chemicals are used to treat our curtains. Our fabrics are 100% eco certified.
What Is the Stack Depth?
Normal Roman shades are 11 inches in stack height, while thermal-lined shades stack about 5”for shades 79” long. If you would like to keep the window clear, install the cornice 11 inches above the window frame.
What Is Included in the Set?
This set comes with a linen panel, cornice, and brackets. Screws and screwdrivers for installation not included. However, a guide to hang them properly is included.
What Types of Blackout Roman Shades Do You Have?
There are several types depending on your preferences. The classic style comes unlined or with various linings. This style provides sophistication to any space. However, if you live the casual life, our relaxed style can help with that. This style comes with or without flanges. Contact us with your preferred details, and we’ll make it happen.
Do You Offer Cordless Blackout Roman Shades?
For now, we do not have them for sale. A bracket can be used to prevent cord access from young children’s hands (or pets’ paws.)
What Are the Maximum and Minimum Widths for Blackout Roman Shades?
The maximum width of a single shade is 102 inches, or 260 cm, and the minimum is 15 inches or 26 cm. We offer custom sizing and can create two shades to help with larger windows.
Will the Blackout Roman Shade Cover the Window Frame?
Yes, as the length can be any preferred size. All you need to do is measure from where you want the Roman shade’s top to sit down, then calculate the desired finishing point. Keep in mind that the cornice depth is 2 inches. The shade can cover any depth if needed. To calculate the length, position the cornice above the window frame, then extend the shade 3 inches below the frame.
What Is the Lead Time for Blackout Roman Shades?
On average, the lead time is 8 to 10 business days, with 5 to 7 additional delivery days. This length can depend on several factors, including holidays.
Can You Make the Shades to Match the Curtains?
Yes. We offer shades in different colors, and also offer free fabric samples. It’s easy to find the combination that will make your home look refined.
